The
Official NPCAlaska Olympia Report
This Olympia weekend
was one of great surprises and changes. I have been attending the Mr.
Olympia every year since 1999, and I can definitely say that this was
the largest and most exciting. We arrived Friday morning to make sure
we had plenty of time for the Olympia Expo. I traveled with my fiancé,
and fellow Alaskan bodybuilders Leo Padua, Bryan Espinoza, Jill Darling,
and of course Tim Kirby and Valentina Chepiga. This was not only
Valentina Chepiga’s Return to the Olympia stage, but the last time
Ronnie Coleman would compete in the Olympia. (Story continues below...)

Jay Wins
In the Ms. Olympia,
Iris Kyle took her third victory over
Dayana Cadeau and
Yaxeni Oriquen. Alaska’s own Valentina Chepiga
maintained her rock hard conditioning and fantastic feminine symmetry,
but due to lack of size placed outside the top 6. Good news for Alaska,
she has qualified to compete next year! Don’t forget she will be guest
posing on October 20 at the NPCAlaska Crystal Cup!
In the Figure Olympia,
Jenny Lyn took first once again in a very tough competition.
Surprisingly, Monica Brandt failed to make the top 5 despite beautiful
symmetry and hardness.
Fitness Olympia
Champion
Adela Garcia looked
phenomenal in her high energy routine.
The Mr. Olympia top
six were as follows:
6th place –
Melvin Anthony. For all of those of you that can remember, Melvin guest
posed in Alaska at a show called the Artic Bodybuilding championships
back in about 1996. He had exceptional symmetry and the best posing
routine of the evening. Hard and symmetrical, he lacked only size of
the other top 6 competitors.
5th place –
Dennis Wolf. The Surprise of the entire competition, the 6’5 Big Bad
Wolf looked PHENOMENAL. Symmetrical, hard AND huge… and in a LOT of
opinions the overall winner of the show. During prejudging, he was
never placed side by side with Jay, Victor or Ronnie so the only time
you got to see him posing beside any of them was in the overall
pose-down. We expect him to place higher next year. Don’t be surprised
to see this guy with the overall title sometime in the near future!
4th place –
Ronnie Coleman. Ronnie came in visibly softer, and not as separated as
in prior years. You could see the toll a torn lat and triceps has taken
on his body, the left side noticeably smaller than his right. Ronnie
did get a standing ovation, and played the part of a champion well.
Thanks for the memories Ronnie!
3rd Dexter
Jackson – The Blade lived up to his nickname, coming in shredded as
always. His full muscles, vascular and tiny waist made his 230lb
physique look much larger than it was. He held in well with those
outweighing him by 50lbs.
2nd Victor
Martinez – In my own opinion (and half the crowds) Victor should have
taken the overall. During prejudging, he was hard, full, shredded and
had some of the best legs ever seen on an Olympia stage. You could see
every striation from the side! We can’t wait to see him after a two
week carb up at our show on October 20th!
1st Jay
Cutler – Jay had probably the closest call of his career tonight. He
appeared softer than Martinez during the Prejudging, but hardened up
quite a bit before the Evening show on Saturday. The final call came
from the overall pose-down, with Victor and Jay almost tied leading into
the posing round.
That’s pretty much the
story, we look forward to seeing you October 20 at the 2007 NPCAlaska
Crystal Cup Fitness, Figure and Bodybuilding Championships!
